Ripano Tour

4 nights, 5 days

A community-lead tour of the Sapara territory, where you will experience its biodiversity and get a small glimpse of the ancestral knowledge and practices of its people.

Association of the Sapara Women Ashiniawka

In defense of our territory

We work to defend the biodiversity and food sovereignty of the Sapara territory for the integral well being of the Sapara people. We protect the biodiversity. We work to recover and strengthen the traditional indigenous medicinal sciences and the production of food across five communities through the creation of the chacras (orchards), used to grow medicinal plants within the territory. Our ancestral practices generate autonomy and maintain the conservation of ancient knowledge.

  • Sleeping bag

  • Waterproof hiking shoes

  • Insect repellent

What facilities are available in Ripano?

The cabin in Ripano is made out of wood, and has two floors. Every Visitor has their own sleeping pad and mosquito net. The cabin also has a shared bathroom and shower for the visitors.

Can children and elderly people join the tour?

Yes, everyone is welcome! For elderly people we offer an adjusted tour without walking tours, we only take the canoe to move around.

The walking during the tour involves going through 2 to 3 kilometers of humid jungle. During the whole duration of the tour we are taking good care of you and support you along the way. Depending on how the group advances in this challenging climate and nature, we will adjust the tour to match the rhythm and physical challenge the group would like to take.

The Amazon rain forest is densely populated with very tall trees, which sometimes can cause dizziness when looking up for extended amount of time. This is why we recommend walking slowly.

How many days in advance does the tour need to be booked?

We ask for the tour to be booked at least a month in advance. This gives us enough time to prepare your stay and arrange for the private planes which transport you from Shell to Masaramo, and to make sure you will have an excellent stay with us.

How many people can fit into an airplane?

We fly with small airplanes which can take either three or five passengers. Of course we can organise multiple trips if the group is bigger than that. For example, if there are 10 people in a group, then we would fly twice with the five passenger plane.

What is your cancellation policy?

It is a pleasure for us to organise these tours but they also need time and resources to organise. This is why we can only return the full cost of the tour if it is cancelled a month before the tour starts. Unfortunately we cannot reimburse any tour that is cancelled less than a month before its start date.

If you have any concerns about the dates of the booking, please contact us and we can discuss your trip in more detail. We are generally flexible in accommodating the tour dates and duration of the trip.

Booking and further questions

If you want to book the tour or have any other questions, please send us a message using the form or by contacting us directly.

Please note, we do not always have access to a working internet connection and need to travel to be able to communicate on the internet. Which means there is sometimes a delay in responding to messages, we hope you understand. We aim to respond to your message as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience!
